Escape the crowds and discover a surfer's paradise only accessible by 4WD. Double Island Point sits within the Great Sandy National Park — a remote, pristine headland that rewards those willing to make the journey. Because the only way in is along the beach by four-wheel drive, the waves here stay blissfully uncrowded, offering long, rolling point-break rides that suit everyone from first-timers to experienced surfers. The drive itself is part of the experience. You'll travel along the iconic coloured sand cliffs of Rainbow Beach before arriving at one of the region's most spectacular surf spots. Once there, the wide, forgiving waves of the Great Sandy Marine Park give you plenty of room to find your feet — or your fins. Expect generous time in the water, with the natural environment adding to the magic. Dolphins are frequently spotted in the bay, and sea turtles and rays are common companions. Between June and October, migrating humpback whales may also make an appearance offshore. Surf lessons are available as an optional extra, keeping things flexible whether you're keen for coaching or simply want to explore the break at your own pace. All equipment is provided, and small group sizes mean the experience stays personal throughout.
