Reefworld Aquarium Hervey Bay
Official Partner**One of the few all-natural aquariums in the world, Reefworld Aquarium brings the living reef to the foreshores of Hervey Bay — and lets you swim right in it.** Nestled on the beachfront at Dayman Park in Urangan, Reefworld Aquarium has been welcoming families and ocean lovers since 1979. What sets it apart is the truly natural setup: seawater is sand-filtered and circulated through the exhibits, and daylight powers the displays — so you’re viewing a living reef rather than a manufactured scene. Inside, you’ll spot green sea turtles, sharks, schools of tropical species and other sizeable reef fish, along with tiny treasures like tubeworms, crabs, shrimp and starfish. Daily feeding sessions are open to visitors of all ages, giving you a genuine hands-on connection with marine life. The touch tank lets you feel the textures of the living reef throughout the day. For those wanting to go deeper, the Turtle Swim experience offers a supervised 30-minute snorkel in the turtle tank — no diving experience required. Snorkelling gear is supplied, and bookings are essential. Children under ten must be supervised in the tank. Admission covers the entire day, so you're welcome to leave and return as often as you like — perfect for combining with a stroll along the Urangan foreshore or a whale watch departure nearby. Group and school rates are available on request. Reefworld is open seven days a week from 9:30am to 4:00pm, excluding Christmas Day and ANZAC Day. Bring your camera — the natural light filtering through these living tanks makes for stunning photographs.
