# Mary Poppins Kangaroo Nature Sanctuary Swap screen time for wildlife time and meet Australia’s icons in Maryborough’s backyard. **Get close to kangaroos, wallabies and colourful native birds at a small, friendly sanctuary 8 km west of Maryborough, open 10am–5pm with a 2pm feeding and a strong rescue-and-rehab focus.** ## What will you see? A small native zoo home to many native parrots, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, lizards and dingoes. The sanctuary supports the rescue and rehabilitation of native fauna, with volunteers caring for orphaned and injured animals before release where possible. ## When is feeding time? You can catch the kangaroos, wallabies and emus being fed at about 2pm. Swing by in the afternoon to see these gentle residents at their most curious and hungry. ## Where is it and when is it open? You’ll find the sanctuary about 8 km west of Maryborough. It’s open daily, 10am–5pm, giving you plenty of time to wander the enclosures and enjoy unhurried wildlife encounters. ## How can you make a Maryborough day of it? Pair your visit with a stop at the life-sized Mary Poppins statue on the corner of Kent and Richmond Streets, or explore The Story Bank for more storytelling magic. Time your trip to coincide with the Mary Poppins Festival for an extra dash of whimsy. For more inspiration, see the broader Maryborough attractions guide.
