Yidney Rocks Beachfront Units

Official Partner

Wake to the roll of the Pacific and step straight onto sand at Yidney Rocks. **Perched above the waterline on K'gari's (formerly Fraser Island) eastern beach, these self-contained beachfront apartments offer front-row ocean views and genuine beachside living — halfway along the island's spectacular ocean shore.** Set atop Yidney Rocks, the apartments suit families, fishing groups and couples alike. Most feature private verandas with BBQs and sweeping ocean panoramas; your vehicle parks right behind you while the surf is virtually at your feet. Happy Valley's service station, general store and pub are around a 5-minute drive or roughly 20 minutes on foot along the beach, with Eli Creek and the S.S. Maheno a short 4WD run away. What accommodation is available? - Spacious three-bedroom apartments accommodate groups of up to eight people, complete with full kitchens, outdoor settings and BBQs. The Whiting is a one-bedroom apartment positioned upstairs, perfect for couples enjoying ocean views; note it does not include a BBQ, chest freezer or balcony. What amenities will you find? - Each apartment is fully self-contained with a gas stove, turbo oven, fridge, chest freezer, microwave and kettle/toaster. You'll also enjoy WiFi, TV (DVD on request), laundry facilities, a shower plus second toilet, and sheltered veranda settings. How do you get here? - From Hervey Bay, catch a ferry from River Heads — the crossing to Woongoolba Creek takes around 30 minutes, while the Kingfisher Bay route is approximately 50 minutes. Once on K'gari, a 4WD is essential; head to the eastern beach, turn left and continue to Yidney Rocks, entering through the ramp at the rear of the property. Beach driving is tide-dependent — always check tide times before setting out. Is power and water available? - A generator runs daily from 6am–11pm, keeping apartments powered throughout the day and evening. Guests who require overnight power for CPAP machines can request a dedicated outlet at check-in. Lighting and overhead fans remain on at all times. Fresh water is drawn from an on-site underground spring. What should you bring? - Bed linen, bath mats and tea towels are included. Pack your own bath and beach towels, toiletries, toilet paper, plastic bags, washing powder and all food for your stay. Factor in the tides when planning beach travel — and keep an eye on the water; guests regularly spot passing whales and dolphins from this elevated vantage point.
