From this trailhead, you can head toward the coast along both rural and urban stretches of the Mary2Bay Rail Trail. Note that the rural and urban sections are currently separated by a short gap of around 2 km near the Hervey Bay–Maryborough Road crossing; riders should take care at this point while plans to bridge the gap are progressed. For the most enjoyable experience right now, many riders choose to begin at Urangan Pier, where a sealed off-road path runs approximately 14 km through to Nikenbah. From there, a rural gravel section continues from Piggford Lane for around 13.8 km to arrive at Churchill Mine Rd Trail Head—taking in native bushland and historic railway bridges along the way, with interpretive eco-signage to be installed in due course.
